Marine
Leading the marine industry in the southern hemisphere
Marinas stretch from Southport to Steiglitz in the city’s north, including a megayacht berth at the Southport Yacht Club.
We have the largest concentration of marine trades in the country who specialise in the manufacture, maintenance and refit of marine craft for the Australian and international markets, from luxury superyachts to smaller recreational aluminium boats.
With over 500 marine companies we have a mature marine industry including advanced manufacturers delivering a diverse range of hardware, accessories, lighting, and dock flotation systems. Exports are creating opportunities for growth for industry operators, with many Gold Coast products found within the build of yachts and marinas around the world.
After successful planning and development of the most advanced marine industry clusters in the southern hemisphere, the Gold Coast Marine Precinct in Coomera, the City of Gold Coast continues to protect and masterplan waterfront land for future investment and marine industry growth.

Gold Coast Marine Precinct
The Gold Coast Marine Precinct is a dedicated 250-hectare industrial zone in Coomera. This precinct has the highest density of marine trades in Australia with over 5000 skilled staff working from the hub each day. It includes marine manufacturing, servicing, repairs and refits of recreational boats. It has 2 of the most awarded shipyards in Australia and is one of the most advanced and respected marine industry cluster developments in the southern hemisphere.
Dredging program
A multi million dollar annual dredging program maintains 14 kilometres of the Broadwater and Coomera River. This allows large vessels up-river to undergo refits and maintenance work at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.
Customs clearance port
An official Australian Border Force clearance port is located at the Southport Yacht Club and is easily accessible from the Gold Coast Seaway.
This Port of Entry is for visiting international yachts, making the clearance process quicker and more convenient. Having a customs port in our city allows foreign superyachts and other vessels to sail directly into the Gold Coast Seaway.
Our ecosystem
Superyacht industry
Superyacht infrastructure
We are home to 170 superyacht berths across seven major marinas, including Australia’s largest floating megayacht berth at 160m in length, which was developed in collaboration with the Queensland Government and Southport Yacht Club.
A $65,000 Superyacht Simulation Report was also completed, allowing vessels up to 130 metres to enter the Broadwater and access the new megayacht berth at the Southport Yacht Club.
